It’s summer time and time to look at area lakes and their unique features?  J.S. Realty is very familiar with buying and selling lake shore properties.

Caribou Lake is located about 15 miles north from downtown Duluth, Caribou Lake spans 546 acres.  The maximum depth is 21 feet deep.  There are three separate access points to get onto Caribou Lake.  On the north end of the lake there is a concrete back-in access point that is state owned.  On the south end of the lake there are two access points as well.  The Caribou Lake Association, strives to make life happy on Caribou Lake.  They care deeply about the lake environment and the surrounding area.  Check out their website here!  In the Duluth Area Association of REALTORS MLS for the year of 2014, there were 4 homes that were sold that had waterfront on Caribou Lake.  The average sold price for these properties was $183,125.

Chub Lake is located about 20 miles southwest from downtown Duluth, near Carlton, MN.  The deepest part of the lake is 28 feet deep, and the whole lake is 311 acres.  The north end of the lake features a concrete back-in access point that is owned by the state in Chub Lake Park.  In the Duluth Area Association of REALTORS MLS for the year of 2014, there were 2 homes that were sold that had waterfront on Chub Lake.  The average sold price for these properties was $310,000.

In the Duluth Area Association of REALTORS MLS for the year of 2014, there was 1 home that was sold that had waterfront on Boulder Lake Reservoir.  The average sold price for this property was $130,000.

Wild Rice Lake Reservoir is located about 8 miles northwest of downtown Duluth.  Wild Rice Lake Reservoir is often referred to as Rice Lake by the locals.  Similarly to Boulder Lake, Minnesota Power also uses this lake for water storage, so the lake is subject to water level manipulation at times.  Minnesota Power created this lake in 1908 to be used as part of the Cloquet-St. Louis River hydropower system.  Wild Rice Lake is 2,127 acres with a maximum depth of 11 ft.  There is an access point owned by Minnesota Power, located just west of the dam that is open to public use.  It is a concrete back-in ramp.

Strand Lake is located about 29 miles north of downtown Duluth near the town of Cotton.  It is a 334 acre lake with a maximum depth of 17 feet.  On the north side of the lake there is a gravel access point.  In the Duluth Area Association of REALTORS MLS for the year of 2014, there was 1 home that was sold that had waterfront on Strand Lake.  The average sold price for this property was $120,000.
